The Elisabeth Haub School of Law at ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½ congratulates two distinguished alumni on their recent appointments to top positions in the federal government. Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. (LLM ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½˜87), former Professor of Law and Co-Director of the Pace Environmental Litigation Clinic, has been confirmed as Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The Elisabeth Haub School of Law at ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½ congratulates two distinguished alumni on their recent appointments to top positions in the federal government. Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. (LLM ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½˜87), former Professor of Law and Co-Director of the Pace Environmental Litigation Clinic, has been confirmed as Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Additionally, Kash Patel (JD ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½˜05) has been confirmed as Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

As the first Haub Law faculty and alumni appointed to their respective Senate-confirmed leadership positions in the executive branch of the U.S. government, the confirmations of Secretary Kennedy and Mr. Patel mark a milestone in the Law SchoolΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½™s history.

Sav Ackerman ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½™25 has always had a strong work ethic. Born into an abusive and impoverished upbringing, both of SavΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½™s parents passed away by the time Sav was 15 years old. ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½œThere were many hard days growing up,ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½ shared Sav. ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½œPrior to passing away, my mother was a single parent and worked full-time while going to school for nursing. I started working to support myself from the time I was 15 and continued to work throughout law school.ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½

When Joseph Churgin graduated from the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½ in 1993, he never could have imagined that 32 years later, two of his children would not only be studying law but attending the same law school. ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½œI felt incredibly proud that both Hunter and Emma wanted to attend law school where I got my start,ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½ shared Joseph. ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½œIt was the perfect fit for me, and I hoped that it would be for both of my children as well.ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½

Initially, Melis Ozcan ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½™24 LLM described her main objective in pursuing her LLM as to sit for the New York Bar Exam, however, her educational experience at the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at ΒιΆΉ΄«Γ½ ultimately contributed to her personal growth while also providing her with a high-quality legal education.
